Guardian Angel 
a True Story by Kathy Wade

My mother had developed a heart condition about 5 years ago right before her 75th birthday.  That year for her birthday, I gave her an angel on a chain which I assured her would keep her safe when I was not able. 

Over the years, when she was admitted to the hospital where she was not permitted to wear the necklace, we passed the angel back & forth. The angel became a strong symbol for us. I cared for my mother the past two years. Our bond was stronger than ever. 

After she passed away last November, I was shopping in a small Christmas store at the tree lot. It is important that you know that I am blind, at this point, so you can understand how I was drawn to an angel in that store. I was compelled to a table where I handled a tiny stuffed figure in a lace dress.  Upon picking it up, I pushed a button on her chest and it recited, "I am your guardian angel". 

Because I couldn’t see it, I had no idea that it was an angel, let alone, that it was to be my guardian angel. I simply had to have it. Price was not a concern at the time, and that is unusual for me.  And so it is a part of my most treasured possessions and my permanent guardian angel. 

I wear my mothers’ angel now and her presence is positive and helpful to us all.  She is probably smiling right now as we share this story and pleased to know she is still loved.
