The Song of One

I traveled somewhere while deep in my sleep or my meditation as I usually do.  Only this time was different. There was this sound or a song of such untold radiance that came to me while in this poised state, while detached from the dissonance of my daily existence. And although having not heard this song or sound before, I somehow suspect it has been there all the while next to me, even within the deepest parts of me.  And as I journeyed, I heard the sound from each entity I saw, from every being large and small it was a singular voice, a melodic tone, a harmony, a melody—some notes that I’ve never heard before. 

Within the sound ranged highs and lows and in-betweens that were vast and immeasurable, stretching into infinitude. Some voices were discordant, some clear and true. Some opaque, crashing, jarring. Some melodiously light, skillfully tuned or sparkling, playful and joyous like light dancing on water. Each was beautiful no matter what the timbre of its voice. Yet each supported the other in some way. As if each depended on the other for existence. And each blended into the whole of a most beautiful song that reverberated throughout the universe. And it was the amazing singularity of each voice that struck my ear as clear as the joined choir of One well-articulated song.  It was unlike anything I had ever heard before and filled my entire being with powerful surprise and astonishment. 

The voice emanated from all sources of energy, all sources of matter and non-matter, seen or unseen by the naked eye. Divine sparks of musical notes that flew out from the Oneness of our being, from the One. And the One sang to us like a mother rocking her baby, and the One sang to each other, to Itself.  Individual sparks from the One from which we came, from which we are. It was the joyful ecstatic experiencing of Oneself as some sparks flew out in chaotic, disordered and flickering design or dazzling, intense and structured form. Some sparks meta-morphosing between chaotic and ordered and back again. I realized the music was always there, has always been there, only it is I who am now just remembering it. Where I heard it before, I do not recall this One voice, it seemed, of a thousand angels. 

And being forever changed in my awakening state, never can I look at life in any construct or outward appearance in quite the same way again. In everything I do & in every person I meet, I must strive daily, straining my inner ear to hear that song again.
