Please allow me to introduce myself, I am Chaplain Alonzo Young. The Lord has allowed me to be a Senior Chaplain here at Lake Correctional Institution.  This institution houses 1,088 inmates. Over 300 of these inmates are classified as either medium or minimum custody, and they will be re-entering the community soon, either through the dept. of corrections work release program or by release due to completion of their sentences. We have 760 inmates who are close custody with long sentences, and we have a hospital unit and a mental health unit that houses over 400 inmates. Many of the men are here for the first time and are highly depressed, bitter and lonely. Many are confined to the hospital and facing surgery, long rehabilitation, or even death. Many face these things alone.

I am writing today to humbly request your assistance in providing materials for the Spiritual needs of the inmates at this institution. We need your help.

The State of Florida has all but given up on trying to spiritually rehabilitate these men.  We, here in the Chaplaincy Department, believe that the only real hope for men that have wandered into a life of crime, is the regeneration of the heart.

The State of FL does not have any surplus funds that they can provide us with to purchase materials for the men here, therefore, we must rely on people like you in the community to help us provide quality materials for the men.

We are asking people such as yourself to donate a magazine subscription for the inmates here. We are also in need of video tapes, audio tapes and literature for our library. Any donated videos must be accompanied with a statement from you that it is a donation to our chapel.

My name is Chris and I live in the U.K., I recently read Fools Crow ‘Wisdom and Power‘ by Thomas Mails. This book touched something deep inside, it showed me god in a way that filled me with happiness. I was a non believer mainly because I felt the church has caused a lot of wrong over the centuries and years and felt it was a place where people were given a excuse to cause great hurt and wrong doings. But this book changed my views on God and as I believed I felt his touch and warmth and love. This in turn has caused me to make great changes in my life, how I view other people and how I view myself and the world around me. So really I am writing to say thank you firstly to God then to Frank Fools Crow, I know that he passed away some years ago but his love and his faith I felt and can only try now to help others as I have been helped.

My breathing-muscles are disabled too, so I live with a machine that gives me some air. I’d like to receive a portable breathing-machine, but I don’t know anyone to help me find one. Hi.

My name is Kris Lowdog  and I am a full blooded Assiniboine Indian form the Fort Peck reservation. I have had many white buffalo dreams (3) and I am waiting for the 4th one.  One of our medicine men said that everything comes in 4’s so I am waiting for the 4th one.......and also I am writing these dreams down and also trying to draw them.. so I am looking for pictures of any buffalo in different poses to copy...(I can’t draw worth a darn) And I would like to know if I can get some help with these dreams. Many are from the Wisconsin whitebuffalo’s  Pinamya.......Kris
